Abstract:
To provide a system for storing and transporting compressed natural gas.SOLUTION: A system for storing and transporting compressed natural gas includes a supply source facility, a supply destination facility and a transport machine, each of which includes pressure vessels. The pressure vessels and gas therein may be maintained in a cold state by a refrigeration device using a carbon dioxide refrigerant. The pressure vessel may be maintained in a substantially isobaric state by filling the pressure vessel with hydraulic fluid (and/or nitrogen) in discharging a gas from the pressure vessel, so as to reduce vessel fatigue and to lengthen vessel life. The pressure vessel may be a hybrid vessel with carbon fiber and fiber glass. Dip tubes may extend into the pressure vessels to selectively expel/inject the gas from/into the top of the pressure vessels, or the hydraulic fluid may be expelled/injected from/into the bottom of the pressure vessels. Impingement deflectors are disposed adjacent to the dip tubes inside the pressure vessel to discourage fluid-induced erosion of walls of the pressure vessels.SELECTED DRAWING: None
