Abstract:

PURPOSE: To smooth the swing of a waffle plate by providing a crank chamber and an admission chamber communicating to each other through a bypass escapement hole in addition to a fixed escapement hole to restrain pressure rise in the crank chamber.

CONSTITUTION: As the seal effect on the slide surfaces of a piston 16 and each cylinder door 14 is reduced under the small capacity running condition, the flow of blow-by-gas flowing into a crank chamber 17 is increased. When the flow of blow-by-gas entering the crank chamber 17 exceeds the allowable amount for a fixed escapement hole 27, a drive plate 20 is pivoted in the direction of reducing the inclination to open the opening of a bypass escapement hole 27 which has been so far closed by a sleeve 33 and release the gas to an admission chamber 6. That is, pressure rise accompanying the increase of blow-by-gas flow is restrained to hole the pressure in the crank chamber constant.
