Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression coil spring having high ductility and high setting resistance by forming a C concentrated layer with uniform thickness in a thin range on a wire surface and adding proper compressive residual stress distribution to a wire after molding.SOLUTION: There is provided a compression coil spring using a steel wire containing, by wt.%, C of 0.5 to 0.7%, Si of 1.2 to 3.0%, Mn of 0.3 to 1.2%, Cr of 0.5 to 1.9%, V of 0.05 to 0.5%, one or more kind of Ni of 1.5% or less, Mo of 1.5% or less, and W of 0.5% or less as optional component, and the balance iron with inevitable impurities, having a C concentrated layer with over average concentration of C contained in the steel wire on a surface layer part, and thickness of the C concentrated layer in a range of 0.01 to 0.05 mm over whole circumference of the steel wire. There is provided a compression coil spring having internal hardness in any cross section of the steel wire of 600 to 710 HV, and maximum hardness in the C concentrated layer of 30 HV or higher than the internal hardness.SELECTED DRAWING: None
