PURPOSE: To reproduce rotational driving up to a high rotational speed region using a small sized device and to smoothly perform the transfer from a compression process to an expansion process by rotationally driving the crank shaft connected to an experimental piston by a fluid pressure actuator.
CONSTITUTION: When experiment is started, a crank shaft 2 is set to a non- rotational state by a brake 21 and a piston is set to the initial position of a compression process and a piston 31 is positioned on the right within a driving cylinder 3 and valves 35, 36 are set to a closed state. When the brake 21 is released after the valve 36 is opened to fill an operation chamber 32 with the high pressure air of an air tank 37 to sufficiently raise the pressure in the operation chamber 32, the crank shaft 2 begins to rotate by the piston 31 and the piston 31 is rapidly accelerated by high pressure air. The piston 11 connected by the crank shaft 2 is rapidly driven in the direction compressing a combustion chamber 12. The piston 11 advances to a position passing an upper dead point by predetermined quantity to complete experiment. Operation chambers 32, 33 are allowed to communicate with each other by a bypass pipe 34 before the piston 11 reaches the upper dead point and the piston 31 is braked.
