To provide a compression filling packaging method with a high packaging capability which fills an article to be packaged in a state that the article to be packaged is compressed to a small bulk and performs gas substitution.

In a compression filling machine 15 composed of pushing rods 25 pushing the article to be packaged fed in respective funnels 18 and movable in the vertical direction, the article to be packaged (dried bonito flakes k) fed in the funnel 18 is pushed by the pushing rod 25 to cause a small bulky state. In a filling process of the packaging machine P, at approximately the same time as inserting an opening for the falling of a lower funnel 35 into a packaging bag (a), the article to be packaged in the funnel fills the packaging bag. In a temporary sealing process, a gas filling nozzle 8 is inserted into the packaging bag and the temporary sealing of a bag opening b is applied by a temporary sealing means 55 leaving the surroundings of the nozzle. In a top sealing process, the gas filling nozzle is taken out of the packaging bag and the bag opening is sealed by a sealing means 70. In the following post-process, after the sealed part is cooled, a gripped state caused by a pair of grips g is released to discharge the packaging bag (a) to the outside of the machine.
