Abstract:

To provide a compression ignition internal combustion engine reduced in weight and capable of meeting a load requirement in a wide range by a single fuel and its control method.

This compression ignition internal combustion engine comprises a first tank 1 storing a mixed fuel A of ethanol and liquid hydrocarbon and having a first atmospheric blowoff valve 9, a water tank 2 storing the water B, a second tank 3 in which the mixed fuel A is mixed with the water B, a mixed liquid C formed by mixing ethanol with the water B is separated from the liquid hydrocarbon D, and having a second atmospheric blowoff valve 44, a third tank 4 storing the liquid hydrocarbon D and having a third atmospheric blowoff valve 50, a fourth tank 5 storing the mixed liquid C and having a fourth atmospheric blowoff valve 56, and pressure reducing means 7 reducing pressures in the tanks 3, 4, 5. The more the supplied amount of the liquid hydrocarbon D is increased, the more the load requirement is reduced. The more the supplied amount of the mixed liquid C is increased, the more the load requirement is increased.
