Abstract:
To provide a turbocharging type uniflow scavenging-air compression ignition internal combustion engine which is configured to be operated by using ammonia as a main fuel or only fuel in at least one operation mode.SOLUTION: An engine includes: a cylinder (1) having a reciprocating piston (10) therein and having a cylinder cover (22) which covers the cylinder itself; a combustion chamber formed between the reciprocating piston in the cylinder and the cylinder cover; a pre-chamber (33) which is disposed in the cylinder cover and connected to the combustion chamber to enable communication through an opening; and an ammonia valve (50) having a nozzle which is open to the pre-chamber. The ammonia valve has an inlet port connected to a source of a compressed liquid ammonia. The ammonia valve is configured to jet the liquid ammonia to the pre-chamber.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
