Title:
COMPRESSION SELF-IGNITION INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3885524
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression self-ignition internal combustion engine capable of controlling a negative overlap period in consideration of the heat loss from residual burned gas, which materializes a highly effective and stable self-ignition combustion.
SOLUTION: The negative overlap period in which the burned gas is trapped in the cylinder by closing both an exhaust valve and an intake valve, is extended on the low negative load side. An extension rate is set higher in accordance with decrease in the engine load. The crank angle from the exhaust valve closing timing to the exhaust upper death point, and the crank angle from the exhaust upper death point to the intake valve opening timing are equally set.
