With a line connecting the compression top dead center of a piston 107 in a reciprocating compressor 15 and the bottom dead center thereof as a criterion, a position of displacing θinit 45° or so to the rotating direction is an optimal starting initial position. As starting motor constants for displacing a rotor 117 to the starting initial position, a rotating initial position θinit, a starting acceleration ωinit, a starting d-axis current Idinit, and a starting q-axis current Iqinit are set. Before starting, a one-phase driving current is carried to a compressor motor 28 in accordance with the starting motor constants and the rotor 117 is made ready at the starting initial position. Then, when started from the starting initial position, the rotor 117 can be normally started from any starting position.
