A compressor has a pipe 11 and a motor disposed inside the pipe 11 that are joined by welding at a plurality of welding locations P1-P3. The motor includes: a core 71 having an annular back yoke 75, a plurality of teeth sections 76 protruding from the back yoke 75 inward in a radial direction (X direction), and slots 77 formed between adjacent teeth sections 76; coils 72 disposed in the slots 77; and slot cells 73 disposed in the slots 77 and insulating the coils 72 and the core 71. Portions of the slot cells 73 facing the inner peripheral face of the back yoke 75 are arranged not to follow the inner peripheral face of the back yoke 75 so that spaces S1 are provided at portions corresponding to the insides of the welding locations.
