Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a B tree optimizer mechanism for optimizing a B tree to be stored in the storage device of a computer system.
CONSTITUTION: A B tree optimizer loaded in a RAM 202 monitors the type and quantity of activity to be generated in the B tree. Based on these type and quantity of activity, the B tree optimizer decides whether or not that B tree is to be reprogrammed. When it is decided to reprogram the B tree, the B tree optimizer calculates an optimum loading rate for paging inside the B tree and according to the optimum loading rate, key values are loaded into respective pages so that the B tree can be reprogrammed.
