PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To previously inform a use of the start of a power saving mode through a host PC. SOLUTION: At the time of starting the power saving mode, peripheral equipment 40 informs a host PC 10 of the start of the power saving mode. When application software for using the equipment 40 is started up in the host PC 10, a driver corresponding to the equipment 40 transmits a received message to the application software to display the message to a user, and when the application software for using the equipment 40 is not started, displays the received message by itself to inform the user of the message.
