Abstract:

PURPOSE: To permit character symbol pattern codes to be converted to a computerized input candidate pattern code collectively and at the same time, the converted code to be entered to a computerized photocomposition system by visualizing candidate patterns entered to a computer on a display unit and selecting one of computerized patterns similar to a character code pattern.

CONSTITUTION: The character code entered by a conversion device 11 of a controller part 1 is converted to a computerized photocomposition code and the converted code is stored in a photocomposition code storage device 9. In this case, a similar pattern vs data is displayed on a CRT unit 5, and a computerized input pattern candidate is selectively indicated by a pointing device 7 of an indicator device. Then the selected computerized input pattern candidate is displayed on the CRT unit 5 with a similar pattern using a selection status display device 12. Next, the computerized input photocomposition codes stored in the photocomposition storage device 9 are rewritten and replaced en bloc to a computerized photocomposition input code indicated based on the selection instruction by the pointing device 7, using a replacement device 13. Finally, the replaced code is entered to a computerized photocomposition system directly on line or indirectly through a storage medium.
