PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer, a control method, and a program capable of continuing functions using another computer even when failure occurs in at least one of a plurality of computers.SOLUTION: A computer 20 comprises: an existence notification unit 251 for transmitting a presence notification signal to other computer 20 belonging to a computer network; a notification receiving unit 252 for receiving the notification signal; a rank comparison unit 253 for comparing a priority order of the other computer 20 as a sender of the presence notification signal with its own priority order; a role determining unit 254 for determining whether the computer itself is a manager or an agent; an instruction unit 257 for sending an instruction to execute a predetermined process to the other computer 20 when the role determining unit 254 determines that it is a manager; and an execution unit 258 for executing the predetermined process based on the instruction from the other computer 20 when the role determining unit 254 determines that it is an agent.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
