The concentrate burner 10 includes: a concentrate chute 20 which feeds a smelting raw material 24 into a reaction tower 2; a blowing pipe 21 which surrounds the concentrate chute 20, is formed so as to reduce its diameter downwardly from a predetermined position of the pipe, and feeds a reactant gas 11 into the reaction tower 2; and a gas velocity regulator 23 which is arranged around the external periphery of the concentrate chute 20 and the blowing pipe 21 and regulates the flow rate of the reactant gas 11 blown from the blowing pipe 21, wherein a protrusion 23a which produces a pressure drop is formed in the flow passage 27 of the reactant gas 11 formed by the gas velocity regulator 23 and the blowing pipe 21.
