To permanently prevent the degradation even if a degrading material is present in high concentration by forming a protecting region containing a reactive material reacting with the material degrading a concrete, at the periphery of the position at which a concrete construction is to be protected, and preventing the degrading material from being brought into direct contact with the concrete.
This concrete protecting structure 1 protects a degrading material 4 from being brought into direct contact with a concrete construction 2 by arranging a protecting region 3 consisting of a reactive material reacting with the degrading material 4, or containing the reactive material, around the concrete construction 2 such as a tunnel 7 buried in the ground 6 so that the reactive material may react with the degrading material 4 and may be changed. When the degrading material is sulfate ion, the reactive material is BaCl2, Ca(OH)2 or the like, and when the degrading material is chloride ion, the reactive material is AgNO3, PbSO4 or the like. When the degrading ion is sodium ion, the reactive material is AgF, KHCO3 or the like, and the degrading ion is fixed by the reactive material. The protecting region is formed by mixing the reactive material with other water-interception material such as a bentonite, and hydraulic material such as a cement.
