NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [A ring is pyrrole which may be hydrogenated; B is divalent cyclic or chain group; one of Q1, Q2 is N and the other is N or CH; W is H, halogen or group (excluding amino) having C, N, O or S; X is NH2, OH, SH; Y is H, OH, NH2; Z is C or divalent linear group consisting of C and hetero atoms and having 2-5 total atoms; COOR1, COOR2 are carboxyl which may be esterified] or a salt thereof.

EXAMPLE: N-[5-(3-(4-Amino-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-5-yl)propyl)-2-tenoyl)-L- glutaminic acid diethyl ester.

USE: An anti-tumor drug. The compound of formula I inhibits a biosynthetic route relating to folic acid and related compounds thereof and exhibits high selective toxicity against the cells of various tumors.

PREPARATION: A compound of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III to provide the formula I.
