PURPOSE: To provide a new compound serviceable as a herbicide or agricultural/ horticultural bactericide usable safely with assured efficacy at reduced doses.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are each H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, phenyl, OR6, SR6, OCOR7 (R5 to R7 are each H, alkyl, phenyl, cycloalkyl, etc.), etc., or combined into oxo, thioxo, cyclic ketal, CR10R11 (R10 and R11 are each H, NO2, alkyl, alkenyl, carboxyl, etc.), NR12 (R12 is the same as R5, R6 or R7), etc.; R3 is the same as R5 to R7, halogen, S(O)pR16 (R16 is the same as R5 to R7 or amino; p is 0-2), OR17 (R17 is the same as R5 to R7, acyl, etc.), etc.; R4 is the same as R5 to R7, halogen, S(O) qR23 (R23 is the same as R16; q is 0-2), NR24R25 (R24 and R25 are the same as R17), etc.; A forms a (substituted) 5 to 7-membered carbon cycle or heterocycle] or a salt thereof, e.g. 2-(2-chlorobenzoyl)-4-trifluoromethyl-5,6-dihydrofuro[2,3-d] pyrimidine.
