Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide hair with an abundantly voluminous feeling and excellent touch, supplying hair with elasticity and luster for a long period of time, comprising a bivalent metal salt capable of producing a specific metal ion and a specific alcohol or ether in a specific ratio in a prescribed pH range.

CONSTITUTION: A conditioning composition for hair comprises 0.1-5.0wt.% of one or more bivalent metal salts capable of releasing Ca++, Mg++ or Zn++ in an aqueous solution and 0.5-50wt.% of one or more selected from the group consisting of a 2-4C alkanediol, its methyl or ethyl ether, 1-methoxypropanol, benzyl alcohol, benzyloxyethanol, phenoxyethanol, cinnamyl alcohol and is adjusted to pH2.5-7. Calcium chloride, magnesium nitrate or zinc sulfate may be cited as the bivalent metal salt. Three of 1,3-butanediol, benzyl alcohol and benzyloxyethanol are preferably used as the organic compound.
