Abstract:
To provide zirconium oxide having conductivity from a low temperature to near room temperature.
The conductive zirconium oxide is prepared by sintering a ceramic powder essentially comprising zirconium oxide in a vacuum atmosphere or in a reductive atmosphere to introduce a large amount of oxygen defects into the zirconium oxide to impart electric conductivity near at room temperature. The electric conductivity of the conductive zirconium oxide is varied into a gradient state by applying an electric current.
