Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a wobble-type piston rod device capable of withstanding non-axial stress and strain forces induced by reciprocation motion of a crankshaft ring.
CONSTITUTION: A piston rod device 10 for use in a diaphragm pump 16 comprises a crankshaft ring 12, a conical piston, and a piston rod 14. The conical piston 14 is formed in a V-shape and has its end 18 joined to the crankshaft ring 12 by a joint 20. The piston 14 is provided with a radial flange 46, which is mounted on the underside of the diaphragm 36 attached to the cylinder 44. The piston 14 is of the wobble-type, which exerts stress and strain force along the axis of a cone since it does not reciprocate along a liner path.
