PURPOSE: To obtain conjugate aramid yarn having excellent dimensional stability and heat bonding properties, comprising a fibrous aramid component and aromatic polyether ketone component by combining aramid dissolved in sulfuric acid and aromatic polyether ketone dissolved in sulfuric acid and coagulating.

CONSTITUTION: An aramid (preferably poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide) having bond of main chain mainly comprising para bond and an aromatic polyether ketone are dissolved in sulfuric acid, respectively, combined, made into a fibrous state and coagulated to readily give conjugate aramid yarn which comprises a fibrous aramid component having ≥20 aspect ratio and an aromatic polyether ketone component, has structure of the aramid component covered with the polyether ketone component and ≥ three or more fibrous aramid components based on 1,000 square sectional area and is suitable for a base for composite material.
