Abstract:
PURPOSE: To ensure smooth movement of a connecting rod so as to increase durability and reliability by supporting the small end part of a connecting rod in such a manner as to freely slide between an axial projection provided on the inside of a crown part of a piston and a support member fitted to the inner peripheral surface of the piston through a needle bearing.
CONSTITUTION: An axial projection 3 having a semicircular section is disposed in a groove 31 formed on the top wall 30 of an inner sleeve 23 fitted to the inside of a skirt part 16 of a piston 1, and an arm part 33 projected in the direction of a crankshaft is integrally formed on the small end part 8 of a connecting rod 7 according to a sliding piece 3. The small end part 8 is supported in such a manner as to freely slide between a circular-arc recessed surface 9 of the upper surface of the arm part 33 and a projecting surface 32 of a piece 3, and between a circular-arc projecting surface 10 formed on the lower surface of the arm part 33 and a recessed surface 14 formed on a support member (retaining sheet) 15 fitted to the inner sleeve 23 stopped by a snap ring 34, respectively, through needle bearings 5, 12.
