PURPOSE: To stabilize a releasing load for a steering column by providing a capsule, which fixes a bracket supporting a steering device and a vehicle body side member with a preset releasing load, and arranging a cylindrical member, which is fitted in a through hole perforated in the capsule, relatively movably in the axial direction.
CONSTITUTION: A bracket 3 connecting a capsule 4 to a vehicle body side member 7 is integrally connected to a steering column, in which a steering wheel is arranged in the upper end. When a connecting part 4c is bent and one side part 4A and the other side part 4B are opposed to each other so as to be connected together, the capsule 4 is mounted to the bracket 3. Then, a cylindrical collar 11 is fitted in a through hole 4a in one side part 4A, and in installation to the bracket 3, the matching faces 4c, 4c' in both parts 4A, 4B are faced with each other without any mutual contact, and then, the end part, outer circumference of the collar 11 is fitted in a through hole 4b in the other end part 4B. In this way, pressing force against the capsule 4 is kept constant, and a releasing load for the steering column 2 can be unified.
