Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a piled up bead evolved on connecting parts by carrying out vertical surface machining to the connecting parts at their central parts of both the ends of a preceding rolling material and a following rolling material and chamfering to their upper and lower surfaces under a reducing atmosphere on a traveling carriage; and then by carrying on butt connection.
SOLUTION: The trailing end of a preceding rolling material 11 and the leading end of a following rolling material 12 are stopped under a reducing atmosphere on the same plane and by retaining a distance shorter than the diameter G of a rotary cutter 42 for cutting. Then, vertical surface machining to both the rolling materials in the plate thickness direction, and given chamfering to their upper and lower surfaces at corner parts are carried to with the rotary cutter for cutting moved in the plate width direction. Finally, the leading end of the following rolling material 12 is butted and connected to the trailing end of the retained and fixed proceding rolling material 11 to connect both the rolling materials. The result evolves no piled up bead at the butted and pressed parts.
