To provide a connecting rod capable of contributing to a reduction in the size of an internal combustion engine by reducing the size of its path, hardly impairing the assemblability.
This connecting rod comprises a connecting rod body 11 and a cap 12 secured to the large end part of the connecting rod body 11 for connecting the connecting rode 1 to a crank pin 21. A mating surface (divided surface) P between the connecting rod body 11 and the cap 12 is tilted by an angle α, from a vertical plane V to the longitudinal direction of the connecting rod. The cap 12 is secured to the connecting rod body 11, with a lower bolt 31 threaded to the side away from the small end part of the connecting rod and an upper bolt 32 threaded to the side close to the small end part. For seating the head part of the lower bolt 31, a seat face 45 formed on the cap 12 is made to offset by a distance d so that it will be positioned nearer the mating surface P than the seat face 46 formed on the cap 12 for seating the head part of the upper bolt 32.
