To aim at improving the assembling accuracy of a connecting rod for an internal combustion engine manufactured by a fracture split method.

The connecting rod for the internal combustion engine with a big end and a small end is integrally molded. Next, the coupling hole part of the big end of the connecting rod is divided into a cap part and a rod part by the fracture split method, and the coupling hole of the big end is machined in a perfect circle before fracture splitting of the big end. The shape of the inner periphery of the coupling hole part of the big end before machining for perfect circle formation is an elliptical shape. In the elliptical shape, the dividing line of the cap part and the rod part of the coupling hole part of the big end and the major axis of the ellipse are coaxial, and the rod central line connecting the center of the big end and the center of the small end and the minor axis of the ellipse are coaxial.
