PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection device, a lighting device, an illumination device, a luminaire and an illumination system that can suppress a failure of connection target equipment due to a reverse voltage while achieving miniaturization and notify that a reverse voltage is applied.SOLUTION: A connecting device 10 includes a pair of first connecting terminals 1a, 1b, a pair of second connecting terminals 2a, 2b, a first protecting element 5, and a second protecting element 6. The connection device 10 further includes a determination unit 4 for determining whether a DC voltage V1 applied to the pair of first connection terminals 1a, 1b is a reverse voltage, and a notifying unit 7 for outputting a notification when the determination unit 4 determines the DC voltage V1 is a reverse voltage. The first protecting element 5 forms a path through which current flows between the pair of first connecting terminals 1a and 1b when the DC voltage V1 is a reverse voltage. The second protecting element 6 is set to a non-conductive state when the DC voltage V1 is a reverse voltage, and set to a conductive state when the DC voltage V1 is not a reverse voltage.
