Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely make an optical low-loss connection between optical fibers without flawing an optical fiber.
SOLUTION: An optical fiber array member 1 is constituted by forming plural V grooves 5 in parallel at right angles to this paper surface, the connection parts 15 of reception-side optical fibers 3 are arranged and fixed in the respective V grooves 5 along the length of the grooves, and the connection part 16 of a master optical fiber 3 is inserted selectively into one of the V grooves on the sides of the connection tips 14 of the optical fibers 3. A master fixing member 6 which presses the master optical fiber 4 against the V groove 5 is provided so that it can freely be moved by a fixing member moving shaft 9, the connection tip 8 of the master optical fiber 4 is brought into contact with an optical fiber press surface 21 to contact with L along the length of the master optical fiber 4 to press the master optical fiber against the V groove 5 and restrain it, and thus the master optical fiber 4 is prevented from being damaged or floating, so that the master optical fiber is securely inserted and fixed in the V groove 5.
