PURPOSE: To improve workability and quality by pressingly compacting the full face of asphalt by means of a roller device and the like, after pressingly compacting the side edge part of an asphalt laying and compacting part in higher density than the other part.

CONSTITUTION: An asphalt finisher 10 is run on the one-side divided road surface of a road surface which is divided into two parts in the width direction, so as to lay and level asphalt. At this time. the side edge part 22 of an asphalt laying and leveling part 20 is pressingly compacted in higher density than the other part by means of a pressingly compacting member 14, and a slope 24 is formed on the end face of the side edge part 22 by means of a slope forming member 16. Next the full surface of the laying and leveling part 20 is pressingly compacted by a roller device and the like. Asphalt is laid on the adjacent remaining divided road surface and the slope 24, and the surface is pressingly compacted by the roller device and the like. Hereby, the working efficiency can be improved because of no use of a ruler, and the joint part can be favorably stuck in high density.
