Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe underground piping construction method by use of the shield tunneling method, by applying a small scale improvement on the peripheral ground G of the connection part in comparison with conventional cases, when an existing pipe is connected to a new pipe.
SOLUTION: The cutting face Ga in just front of an existing pipe 1 is excavated from the front face opening of the steel pipe body 31 opened by disassembling and removing the inside mechanism of a shielding excavator to form an excavated tunnel for joints. Joint-lining rings 22 assembled in the steel pipe 31 are pushed out at every distance corresponding to one ring width in accordance with the advance of the excavated tunnel for joints. Next, the connecting edge 22a with a shape corresponding to the side face of the existing pipe 1 is cut deep in sequence from the front end of the joint-lining rings 22. This procedure is repeated to fit the connection edge to the side face of the existing pipe 1.
