PURPOSE: To perform constant torque caulking of high reliability without any effect of variances etc. of products by caulking a shaft while detecting revolving torque with a DC motor.
CONSTITUTION: When a semifinished product is sent to the lower part of a press ram 10, the ram 10 is moved downward by the operation of an air cylinder 11, and a punch 28 fits to the upper part of a shaft 1. Next, a driving motor 16 is run to revolve a revolving shaft 19 which in turn causes an eccentric cam 20 to revolve, thus causing a block 22 to move downward against a spring 27. A punch 28 then presses the end of the shaft 1, whereby caulking is accomplished. In continuation to this operation, a revolving lever 34 turns to mesh a gear 36 with a gear 4. The gear 4 is revolved constantly by running a DC motor 35. Depending upon the degree of the punch 28, the rotating torque of the DC motor 35 changes and this change is converted to a change is current. While the torque occuring in the deformation of a Belleville spring 5 owing to the caulking of the semifinished product is being detected, the caulking is done and when the predetermined torque is reached, the revolution of the driving motor 16 is stopped by the electrode signal and the ram 10 is moved upward, and this completes the caulking of the product.
