PURPOSE: To prevent the constriction of blood vessel due to the recurrence of a thrombus for a long period of time by using a constriction preventing member formed of a shape memory resin and widely opened by bodily temp. to be deformed into a memory shape set to the cylindrical or spiral shape capable of following the inner wall of a blood vessel.
CONSTITUTION: A constriction preventing member 1 is formed by knitting a fiber formed from a shape memory resin into a cylindrical shape and the memory shape thereof is set so that said member 1 is widely opened in a diameter direction from a contracted state at deformation temp. to be capable of following the inner wall of a blood vessel 2 such as the artery on the outer peripheral side thereof. The construction preventing member 1 is cooled to temp. lower than deformation temp. to be held to a contracted state and inserted in the leading end part of a catheter 3 to be inserted in a blood vessel 2 along with the catheter 3 and allowed to protrude from the catheter 3 by the cylinder 4 mounted in said catheter 3 to be mounted to a lesion part. The constriction preventing member 1 is heated to bodily temp. to be deformed into the memory shape and fully expanded in the blood vessel 2 to certainly prevent the constriction of the blood vessel 2 at the part concerned and the blood flowing through the blood vessel can smoothly pass through the constriction preventing member 1.
