Abstract:

To provide a constructing method enabling construction of a furnace having a thermal shock resistance and a brick of high expansivity being used for the constructing method, by using a brick of high expansivity not containing an additive in question, such as carbon, and chromium.

The ratio of a long side (b) to a short side (a) of the face of a brick 1 of high expansivity coming into contact with molten steel is set to be 1 to 2. On the occasion when a furnace is constructed by using this brick 1 of high expansivity, a joint thickness is made 1.25 to 2.0 times larger than an empty joint thickness at a temperature of 1500°C. As for a joint material, a ceramic sheet is used.
