To provide a connecting construction method and a cutting tool for a closed pipe end capable of connecting a newly-laying pipe member by excavating a hole larger than the pipe outside diameter of a pipe member connected around the pipe member along the pipe member.
A connecting member 2 is driven and laid into the earth and sand in a state that the connecting member with a shutoff member 15 inserted into a hole 2b is connected to a main branch pipe 3. Then, when the newly-laying pipe member 1 is connected to the connecting member 2, the tool body A1 of the cutting tool A provided with a cutting blade A2 is fitted from an axial direction to the side of the closed pipe end 2a of the connecting member 2, and axially moved while being rotated to cut off the closed pipe end 2a. Next, after the connecting member 22 is connected to the cut opening of the connecting member 2, the shutoff member 15 is moved to the side of the connecting member 22, and a part of the connecting member 22 positioned further upstream of a portion where the shutoff member 15 is positioned is crushed and blocked to shut off axial communication. Next, the shutoff member 15 is extracted from the connecting member 22, and the newly-laying pipe member 1 is connected to the connecting member 22. Lastly, the blocked portion 23 of the connecting member 22 is opened.
