Two compression lines C1 and C2, which are orthogonal to a center line o of a steel pipe sheet pile 4y and which cross each other at an acute angle α, are assumed. Compression mechanisms 61, 71, 62 and 72 are disposed at four locations in which the two compression lines cross a pile wall of the steel pipe sheet pile, and attached to chuck bases 81 and 82. The two chuck bases are integrally and continuously provided. The four compression mechanisms are loosened and fitted to the pile wall, and a joint J of the steel pipe sheet pile is positioned right near the chuck bases.
