Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress settlement due to consolidation caused by dynamic load by specifying the height from the tips of soil-cement column bodies, constructed in the weak ground at a specified top view improvement ratio, to the road paved surface.
SOLUTION: Soil-cement column bodies 1 are constructed in the weak ground of a road foundation at a top view improvement ratio of 20-60%, and a shallow improving soil layer 11 with cement group consolidating material mixed and consolidated is laid thereon. A grading-adjusted crushed stone layer 15 is further laid thereon and paved with asphalt-concrete 16. In this case, the height from the tips of the soil-cement column bodies 1 to the road paved surface is to be 4m or more. The plane layout of the soil-cement column bodies 1 is to be of grated shape, and it is desirable that the spacing of grating is not more than twice the height from the upper ends of the soil-cement column bodies 1 to the road paved surface. Settlement due to consolidation caused by dynamic load is thereby suppressed in spite of the small improved area of the deep layer ground, and a road can be constructed efficiently at a low construction cost.
