In this construction method for tunnel, construction is performed by a jacking construction method by use of a base pushing jack 13 in the vicinity of a start part of the tunnel, and use of the base pushing jack 13 is stopped and a drilling jack 18 of a shield machine 17 is used when reaching a limit point of the jacking construction method to perform construction by switching from the jacking construction method to a shield construction method, a Hume pipe 16 is arranged in front of the base pushing jack 13, one or a few segments 19 are provided between a front end part of the Hume pipe 16 and the drilling jack 18 of the shield machine 17, joints are mounted on a front end outer side face of the Hume pipe 16 and rear end outer side faces of the segments 19 through a sealing material, and a cushion material is provided between mutually joint faces of the Hume pipe 16 and the segments 19.
