Title:
CONTACT CHIP FOR ARC WELDING AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3472350
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable rapid and inexpensive production and to obtain results of welding uniform over a long period of time by subjecting the respective ends of a tip body member formed of a soft copper alloy and a front end member for power feeding formed of a hard copper alloy to cold press welding in the major axis direction of a contact chip.
CONSTITUTION: The front end member 2 for power feeding is formed of the hard copper alloy and the chip contact member 1 is formed of the soft conductive metal. The tip member 2 and the tip body member 1 are the so-called different metals and the joint points thereof are strongly compressed at ordinary temp., by which the joint surfaces arc locally plastic deformed and press welded. The front end member 2 and chip body member 1 consisting of the different metals are surely fixed according to the so-called cold press welding. Electricity is feedable to an electrode wire in a specified state from the start to the end of the arc welding operation without changing the fixing sate even if the front end member 2 heats up to a high temp. at the time of carrying out the arc welding operation by using such contact chip 3.
