Abstract:
To accurately detect that an operator is touching a detection target.SOLUTION: In a steering wheel 10, an exciter 34 is provided on a spoke core part 28C and a first vibration sensor 36 is provided on a rim core part 24. A controller 40 actuates the exciter 34 and, while vibrating the steering wheel 10, detects a vibration level of a rim part 16 (rim core part 24) by means of the first vibration sensor 36. When a vibration level detected by the first vibration sensor 36 drops by a predetermined amount or larger, the controller 40 determines that a driver has touched the rim part 16. This makes it possible to accurately detect that the driver has touched the rim part 16 of the steering wheel 10.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
