Title:
CONTACT LENS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3324156
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the hydrophilicity, stain resistance, comfortableness, and biocompatibility of a contact lens by the glaft polymn., of a hydrophilic monomer which contains a specific compd. resembling a component in vivo onto the surface of the contact lens.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. of the formula (wherein R is H, carboxyl, or a carboxylic ester group; R1 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R2 is a 2-6C amine; and (n) is 1-5) (e.g. 2-acryloyloxyethylphosphorylcholine), which resembles a component in vivo, is dissolved in water as the main component together with another hydrophilic monomer (e.g. acrylamide) as an auxiliary component. A contact lens pretreated, e.g. with plasma is dipped in the resulting soln. to cause the graft polymn. of hydrophilic monomers including the compd. of the formula onto the surface of the contact lens. Pref. the contact lens is made from a copolymer obtd. from a monomer component mainly comprising a fluoroalkyl acrylate.
