PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a make and break contact switch with a contact reducing the possibility that a foreign material is caught therein stably operating for a long period of time by providing a small projection opposite to the plane-form external surface of a first contact in a part of the external surface of the hill-like spherical surface of a second contact.
SOLUTION: The displacement of a bimetal dice 2 is transmitted to a contact spring 4 through a guide pin 3 to bring a movable contact 5 provided at its one end into contact with a fixed contact 6 or separate it therefrom. In the above-mentioned thermostat 1, the external surface of the movable contact 5 is formed into a hill-like spherical surface, and a small projection is provided in a part of the hill-like spherical surface. The movable contact 5 is formed of, for instance, a connection part 7 made of copper and a contact part 8 made of silver, and a small projection 8b having a height of not more than 0.1mm is formed in the contact part body 8a of a hill-like spherical surface. Therefor, when a foreign material is caught between both contacts, sure contact is obtained, and the foreign material is removed by arc discharge generated in being used several times and at the same time the small projection itself disappears. After that, the make and break operation of both contacts is stabilized.
