PURPOSE: To improve corrosion resistance and sliding characteristic by mixing AuAg alloy powder with specified wt.% of carbon powder, mixing and sintering the same.
CONSTITUTION: 0.5-4wt.% of carbon powder is mixed in AuAg (8-25%) alloy powder and compressed and sintered, and formed in a required shape to provide a sliding contact material. The carbon powder of this material functions as dry lubrication to stabilize contact resistance, thereby improving sliding performance. With AuAg (8-25%) alloy powder, surfidization occurs hardly, thereby enhancing corrosion resistance. With the application to a brush for high speed sliding slip ring, such advantages are given as low contact resistance, less scattering in production with stability, excellence in corrosion resistance without generation of sulfurization.
