Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a contact material having improved resistance to welding, wear and arc by adding specified percentages of one or more among Y, La and Nd, Ti and Cu to an Ag matrix.
CONSTITUTION: A powdered starting material consisting of, by weight, 0.1W5% one or more among Y, La and Nd, 0.1W7.0% Ti, 5W30% Cu and the balance Ag or further contg. 0.01W1.0% Zr is charged into a metallic mold, compression- molded, and sintered in a prescribed furnace. The sintered body is internally oxidized by a known internal oxidation method to manufacture a contact material. Since harmful Cd is not used, danger is reduced during manufacture, and no environmental pollution is caused.
