PURPOSE: To provide a contact tip which is excellent in the electric conductivity and the wear resistance, and prevents the generation of weld defect such as incomplete fusion by the deviation of the target position or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A contact tip consists of a composite material whose internal side part 1 is composed of copper alloy, and whose external side part 2 is composed of tough pitch copper or oxygen free copper. This copper alloy has the composition consisting of, by weight, 1.1-2.1% Ni, 0.25-0.45% Si, and 0.3-0.5% Co. Melted copper alloy which is the inner side part or the mixed powder alloy is charged into a billet which is the outer side part, and enclosed therein by executing the electron beam welding of a lid, and then, the contact tip is manufactured by hydrostatic extrusion.
