Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contactor which is hardly damaged and can be operated at a temperature and a pressure higher than those of the conventional PMP hollow fiber membrane contactor for degassing a liquid.
SOLUTION: This contactor 10 comprises a perforated core tube 12 and a minutely porous membrane fabric 36 wound around the tube 12. The fabric 36 consists of a weft 38 of a polymethylpentene hollow fiber and a warp 40. A tubular sheet is wound around the fabric 36 for fixing both ends of the fabric 36. The tubular sheet and the fabric 36 are housed in a shell 13 having end caps and at least one opening for allowing a liquid 18 to pass through the shell 13. The contactor 10 has another function of enduring under a pressure higher than 0.4 MPa and at a temperature higher than 50°C for degassing the liquid 18.
