To provide a container delivery method and a container terminal that can shorten a cycle time, without increasing a cost of a yard crane.
A container delivery method is characterized by: receiving containers 4 temporarily placed in a cargo handling area 10 by a carrier and containers 4 mounted on an external chassis; carrying the containers 4 to a carrier runway 37 and temporarily placing them therein; transporting the containers 4 temporarily placed in the carrier runway 37 by a yard crane 32; and storing the containers in a container storage block 30. Alternatively, containers 4 stored in the container storage block 30 are transported by the yard crane 32, and temporarily placed in the carrier runway 37 so as to be received by the carrier. The containers 4 are carried by the carrier to the cargo handling area 10 and temporarily placed therein, and carried to a gate area 60 and mounted on the external chassis.
