This container destacking device is provided with a guide groove 8a for projecting a lock member 6 toward the container B in the predetermined block on the way of moving the container B with the lock member 6 fitted to right and left endless chains 2, which are turned opposite to each other, and a support member 10 for supporting the lowest of the stacked containers B is provided to be moved forward and backward. When stacking, the container B raised by the lock member 6 pushes the container B, which is stacked on the lowest container B, to separate it from the support member 10, the support member 10 is moved backward, and thereafter, when the lowest container B comes to a position possible to be supported by the support member 10, the support member 10 is moved forward. When destacking, after the lock member 6 raises the lowest container B a little, the support member 10 is moved backward, and thereafter, when the lowest container B is passed downward through the support member 10, the support member 10 is moved forward.
