To provide a container elevator for elevating a container in such a manner as to match the speed of the container to be carried by a carrying device with improved carrying efficiency.
A large number of engagement members 29, 31 spaced from each other corresponding to at least the height of the container for engaging the container on its lower face at the ends on the upstream and downstream sides in the carrying direction are provided on travellers 25, 27 set between a lower position and an upper position as preset on both sides of the container perpendicular to the carrying direction in such a manner as to endlessly travel up and down. Supporting means provided on the lower side corresponding to a carriage plane of a carrying-in device for carrying the container therein supports the container so that the engagement members to be moved up to the container carried therein is put in engagement therewith. Transfer means 35 provided on the upper side almost corresponding to a carriage plane of a carrying-out device 7 for carrying the container thereout transfers to the carrying-out device the container moved up while being held by the engagement members with the travel of the travellers after disengagement therefrom.
