PURPOSE: To improve handling operation of containers on the deck of a vehicle by attaching readily detachable slings to grapples mounted on the ends of a pair of arms installed on the rear of the deck.

CONSTITUTION: A container handling vehicle 1 consists of a pair of right and left arms 4 and 4 installed swing free, privoting an axis 12, on the rear of a deck 2 and booms 5 and 5 inserted tensibly into the arms 4 and 4. On the boom 5, plural number of grapples 6W6" are mounted retractably at an appropriate interval, while a sling 7 is attached detachably to a container 3. According to this arrangement, most suitable slings can be selected depending on the forms of containers as well as expanding a scope of cargo handling work. This enables to load/unload various sizes of containers on account of the plural number of grapples 6W6" provided.
